Decision

In life, we make decisions on everything. Some decisions may be easy to make, but some decisions I wish I don't have to take. Still, I can't just pretend everything is fine, when it is not. So, after thinking and thinking, I've decided that I have to do this.

I don't know if this is the right thing to do but I do know what I am about to do will definitely affect the next course of action in my life.

It is not gonna be easy but I hope I will be strong enough to go through the next chapter of my life.

At this point of time, I just hope something good will come out from this. Insya'Allah, with God's willing. Amin.

Love yourself first,

Holaaa...

Roti Arab and Kuah Minced Beef

Ada gaya Nigella Lawson? :D

Holaaaa...I hope this blog is not haunted yet? Lol. I hope everybody is well :D Last CNY break I tried this very easy recipe-Roti Arab with Kuah Minced Beef. Actually, yours truly was inspired when I see Rina's blog about her cooking and baking (www.cintarina.blogspot.com) She makes cooking and baking looks easy! So for a start, I tried one of her recipe...

Roti Arab
Here's the ingredients:-
For the bread (makes approx 7 pieces)
2 cups of flour
1/2 tsp of instant yeast
3 tbsp of coffee mate
2 tbsp of castor sugar
Salt
Water
Oil

For the gravy
(method almost similar to making bolognese sauce)
Garlic
Spring Onion
Minced Beef
Tomato Puree
Fresh Tomatoes
Basil leaves, Oregano Powder
Salt & Pepper
Olive Oil

The photo shown, was my first attempt. Later on, I realized it is better to divide the "uli" then leave it for a while for it to "kembang sikit" then roll it to make it look like "roti canai" then only you deep fry it. It's like roti naan but fried roti naan. Delicious! In fact you can eat it with kuah Sardin or Curry Chicken. Very filling, my family love it! Tau-taulah ada keturunan Arab :)

True to what she said, once you've started, it can be addictive! Who knows, I might be the next Nigella Lawson!!!Lol! Now, if only I have all the tools...maybe I should start making a list of things that I need to kick start this new found passion... Err, any sponsors? :D

Cheers,

Salam Aidilfitri

Our family photo

I was talking to my bff and both of us admitted that this year raya is not the same as before...
we feel that it lacks the ummph. Perhaps because we are just too old already so there goes the excitement! I still remember raya used to be celebrated
with fireworks
(now banned),
baking cookies
(now kuih tunjuk!that is including yours truly),
preparing buras/pulut
(now after raya prayers dad will buy lemang available along the road side of Jalan Teluk Likas),
sending out raya cards
(now we get smses and greetings from fb),
kids can come freely to your house for raya
(I don't see this now, probably kids were too busy with their gadgets!)
and raya is celebrated 30 days!
(now, we have to wait for open house announcement before visiting our friends and family!)

and the list goes on...How I missed those rayas...

How we celebrate raya may change but I am just glad that the gist of raya is still there, that is raya is still the time for us family to be together and celebrate this joyous occasion together. As long as this doesn't change, I am already happy. This year, our family celebrate raya in moderation (wink-wink), the most important thing to me is, I am just happy that both my parents are still here so we can seek blessing and forgiveness. My mum is still fit and healthy (at least she still imagines that she's still in he 20s'! well, that's my mum) so we can still binge out the "soto banjar" that she prepares every year. Alhamdullilah, Praise to Allah S.W.T.

I just hope we are able to be together again for next raya. Insya'Allah with God's willing. Amin. So, dear friends I hope you are having a wonderful raya as well, if not even better :-)

Salam Aidilfitri,

Happy Birthday Rina dear!

Rina & I
Picture taken way back in 1995

Last year, I promised to upload our old photos together but only recently when I was spring-cleaning my store, I found this photo. So, there you have it dear...As you can see from the photo, yours truly was very slim, masa ni baru form 5...photo was taken by a studio photographer, during those days, we were so fanatic with studio photos because we want our photos to be cun-melencup bila letak dalam friends diary or autograph. I wonder if it is still a practice with youngsters knowaday...hmm...

Anyway, today is a special day for a dear friend of mine, Rina...it's her 32nd birthday! Happy birthday dear! I always pray for all the best things in life for you and family :-) Amin.

Happy Birthday Babe!

Izan and I
Picture taken during our lunch gathering at Salut last year, 2009.
Yum yum sedap tu kek!

Today is the birthday of someone dear to me, my bff...Izan. She turns 31 but she ain't growing any older, still the same hot babe I've known since yester years (ops!that's that means we're getting older? wink-wink). We first met when we studied in Universiti Malaya back in 1997 then we when our separate ways. The world must be small, when we met again in 2006 because we work with the same organisation. And guess what? Now, we are colleague, not only working in the same division, in fact we are neighbours! Hahaaa...Work may be stressful at times but knowing that I have a friend next door makes everything easy. The only problem is when we start xoxo, sometimes no full-stop. Yes, time flies when you are having fun. Kadang, entah apa-apa yang di xoxo...Hahaa...

Thank you babe for being there for me. I am glad we've crossed our path for I have found another gem, a friend in you :-)

I hope she gets all the things she wants in life, because I know she deserves it. Amin.

Lots of love,

Dugaan Berpuasa

Phew!!!Been awhile, right? Did anyone missed me? Hahaa...

Yesterday, we completed first week of fasting. I was having a very good ramadhan until something bad happened yesterday. This year, I was asked to attend Program Berbuka Puasa. at selected masjid. Initially, we have to attend on our own plus cameraman, then only yesterday I found out that other executive from my division will be attending the program as well.

Since one of the program falls during weekend, I went to see the other executive to ask for his help to cover this weekend's program. In fact, I went to see my big boss and ask her if it's ok for me to be excused this weekend. She said go ahead. So I went to his office and politely asked him to cover me. I came with good intention. Fyi, I did call earlier I told him that I wanted to see him, he said he is busy and will get back to me later, to which he didn't. I could have just text him, which what normaly other colleagues do but no, I should go and see him personally, I thought it's better like this. Boy, I was wrong.

I remembered I asked nicely for his help, then I said something like "If you want to cover all districts I lagi suka". I was merely saying, sekali he said to me "Why are you being sarcastic? You came to my office for my help, you know? You could have asked nicely". I blank sekejap, sarcastic? I think that's a bit too harsh. Kenapa pula dia mo terasa, sedangkan kami rakan sekerja, sejak bila pula ngak boleh bergurau?

So I said to him, since you will be attending and I spoke to our big boss she said one executive is enough that is why I am here..asking you if you can cover for me. Terus he said, look at you, look at how you asked for help. Then he ulang lagi, you can be very sarcastic you know? You could have asked nicely. Masa tu my blood go upstairs sudah. I said, beginilah I teda maksud yang bukan-bukan you pigi semua program, in fact I lagi suka. After all masjid2, memang area lelaki, kami perempuan bukan ada role sangat, sekadar penyeri sahaja. So I said to him, now we go back to our story, can you help me or not. Dia dwell lagi benda-benda lain. Siap masukkan how often do I come to his office as compared to him? Dalam hati I what's that go to do with this? Heran juga, bulan puasa man can be very sensitive; ngak bertempat lagi. Aiseymen.

So I said to him, why are you so sensitive? Then he said, you think you time is more valuable than me is it? I may have recording at 6:29 pm. I never said my time is more precious than you but since you will be attending, then might as well you cover. That's all. Dalam hati, kalau ada recording, then why did you put your name on the list? Hello? For decoration is it?

One thing lead to another. We were exchanging *5!@...**!!!^# that when I think back was whatlah!Benda simple pun mau kasih complicated. In the end, I said to him, lets go back to what I've come for. I'm sorry (See, I said I'm sorry, sedangkan I don't think so I did anything wrong) if you terasa that I was sarcastic, sedangkan teda pun berniat begitu. Now, can you cover me? Terus he said, ok he will cover. Then I said to him, I don't want to fight I don't want to have any friction with you. You won, I said.

Excerpt of our *5!@...**!!!^#
He: Who said, this is about winning?
Me: Well, I said I'm sorry. You won. I can never win with you. You are always right.
He: This is not a match you know.
Me: It is not a match, I know because in this match it's just you.
He: Then you don't understand me, Farrah
Me: Yes, I don't understand you, ..... and you never want to understand the people around you.

I said thank you, I cakap lagi, are we cool? He said ya. Tapi I know dalam hati, hmm...dua-dua pun panas ni. In the end I did get what I wanted, but the process of getting help is gruesome. Had I known it would turn this way, I wouldn't have asked him , but it's a done deal.

Actually, he could just told me he couldn't help me, I understand. Or he could have told me that, dia letak2 jak namanya in the list but he is not planning to attend the program? Just be frank, isn't that too much to ask? Instead, he dwelled and twist and masukkan elemen yang tidak pun berkenaan. Had it been him coming to me (which btw, bukan membangkit, I lost count sudah, I never said no) and asked for my help, I would have said yes and try my best to do it...I would never dwell, or make it seem that I'm God just because my colleague asks for my help. After all, this is teamwork right? We are suppose to cover each other.

There you have it...luahan hatiku...

Besar betul dugaan berpuasa ni, kelmarin I can't tahan already. I snapped. I think my pahala kelmarin pun teda sudah. Well, let's hope today will be a better day. I wonder my mum masak apa yerrr? Yum yum...

Selamat Berpuasa you'll
